Femininity on the Streets of Lahore
Among the plethora of men, is Lahore yet ready to accept girl power on its streets?

In a country where you’ve been told to ‘not step out from the house too late because of the circumstances’, the right of a Pakistani women to express herself freely is mediocre.
It is a generalization claiming that societal pressures have been ‘chaining down’ women for a very long time, but I wouldn’t deem it completely incorrect.

Being a student, I often have to come home from the university alone. If i have to drive alone, i naturally notice every face that comes near my car, mentally preparing myself to either react or stay quiet if faced by prying eyes or odd behaviour of the male specie around me.
I also have to travel through an auto rickshaw at times, for which i judge the person driving the rickshaw in a matter of two seconds, note the number plate, text it to my mother for safety purposes and then sit in it.
Even during the ride, I sometimes do not feel safe, because the front mirror of the rickshaw provides an easy view at the customer seat to the driver.

But women all around the country are breaking stereotypes now. Where I struggle to travel alone, many girls are riding bikes for their daily chores, and even independently running small businesses.

So let's all of us gear up to give a boost to females who are trying to break the barriers in this so-called patriarchal society!
