Gawalmandi Food Street: A desi's historical heaven
Surrounded by centuries old buildings, the long walk between them with desi food on both sides is what still attracts people to Gawalmandi.

As i walked down the historical lane, I could easily imagine the drum beat in the background and desis gobbling up hot Karrai, spicy Tikka boti, Seekh kebab, Chapli kebab, Sardar machli, Paye, a huge glass of cold Lassi, ending up with the colorful, dripping Gola.
The history of this food street is as old as the tale of Partition. The families who had migrated from Amritsar to Lahore set up small businesses for their survival here.

Sardar machli is one such shop that still manages to attract people from far away.

The flour-coated fried fish has almost become an identity of Lahore now.
