Having an introvert personality, the task of reaching out to people and asking for an interview got me very, very nervous.

I am the type of person that can never ask for a favour from another person even if I know them very closely, let alone from a person I have never talked to or met before. Since conducting a face-to-face interview was necessary for this task, I knew this was going to be difficult for me.

I bucked myself up and started searching through facebook (the safest contact platform for someone like me) for people who I could interview for my blog. I already had the option of interviewing the Mayor of Lahore and had tried contacting him through a friend, however, the deadline I had for the interview did not match.

Lahore Lahore Hay Tours seemed a perfect fit for my blog so I decided to send them a message. Contacting through message is never a problem for me. I confidently typed a long message and sent it to them, and received a reply after just five minutes.

They happily accepted, but …... wait for it …… told me to call on a number they provided.

Now, when someone tells me to have a conversation on call, my heart literally sinks for a moment. I start overthinking excuses on how I can avoid the call and confirm everything on message instead.

The voice from the other side sounded friendly, which calmed my stiff posture a bit. Omar Shahid, the planning and marketing in-charge of Lahore Lahore Hay Tours asked me about my blog and even recommended a book that would help me in the process. His friendly and helpful conversation did wonders and I was calm and composed by the time the conversation ended (almost 5 minutes 49 seconds).

Mr. Omar opted for Howdy’s as the venue. The meeting was scheduled to be at 2:30pm. My heart was literally beating out of my chest as I was waiting for him at the restaurant.

He arrived at 2:40pm and greeted with a very friendly smile. I calmed down a bit. After giving the order of two bucket of fries and lemonade, I started the interview. As the flow caught up, I got confident. The words came out without any hesitation and the interview was over in half an hour.

This entire experience was very important for me. Being a media student, I understand that in order to be a professional, I have to come across and work with different people. And dealing with people requires confidence.

I gained immense knowledge that would help me further in my blog and it surely has boosted up my confidence and self-belief a bit more.
